Steel Ball Run: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure

So…Where’s The Rest Of Steel Ball Run: Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure?

After years of waiting, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure finally came back earlier this month with the debut episode of its seventh season. Both the episode and the season as a whole are titled Steel Ball Run, and that name makes sense after you see the episode in question. However…when a season launches, don’t we typically get…more of it? We should have the second episode by now, shouldn’t we?

At one point it was strongly suggested the season would be debuting weekly episodes, but now it’s unclear. Fans are now concerned Netflix could be planning to release the show in batches again, something they were heavily criticized for during the release of Season Six, Stone Ocean. The streamer is not commenting either way.

It’s not just the show’s viewers who are concerned by the silence. Anthony Prezman, the manga’s French translator, openly begged Netflix on social media to “consider whether your release strategy serves the story you’re investing in. Steel Ball Run is a story built on tension…arc by arc, week by week. Batch releases neutralize its narrative work.”

All we do know is that the show WILL release another episode at some point, no matter what form it takes. A teaser was released shortly after Episode 1’s debut. Presented in Japanese, it’s about the “2nd Stage”..the next leg of the race that takes Johnny Joestar and Gyro Zeppelli through the treacherous and deadly “Devil’s Palm,” a 750-mile stretch of desert where the sun can fry any traveler to dust. Worse yet, there’s been a murder of one of the contestants, and everybody the pair are competing with is a suspect.

We have no idea when we’ll find out how Johnny survives this latest challenge….Netflix will only say “2nd Stage” is coming later in 2026, whether that means the rest of the season, a batch dump, or another 45-minute special.

I really appreciate when films like Collectors weave history and myth into the narrative. The mention of King Seongjong and the buried sword gave me chills — it's like Korea's version of Excalibur. I studied Korean history in college, and Seongjong’s reign was pivotal in solidifying Neo-Confucian values. The idea that his son might’ve buried a symbolic artifact with him in secret is poetic. This movie, even with its genre mix of heist and comedy, seems to touch on something deeper: the conflict between cultural preservation and personal vengeance.

I watched this with some friends last month, and honestly, it was just a good time. Yeah, it was kinda predictable, but the chemistry between the characters and the slick pacing kept me entertained. I liked Kang Dong-Goo’s smart but reckless vibe. Reminded me of Korean Indiana Jones with a grudge. And Dr. Johns? Totally stole every scene he was in. Not every movie has to be groundbreaking. Sometimes, you just want a fun

Lee Je-Hoon never disappoints. I followed him from Move to Heaven and Taxi Driver, so when I saw he was headlining this, I knew I had to check it out. What surprised me is how well the film balanced humor with suspense. There’s a certain charm in the way it pokes fun at the heist genre while still respecting the cultural weight of its plot. I admit, I watched it more for the cast than the story, but I ended up really enjoying both. Definitely a solid addition to the Korean film landscape.

This movie was way more fun than I expected. I came in thinking it’d be heavy, but it had great energy. The whole "buried alive as a kid, now selling artifacts" thing? Wild. And I loved the twist with who the buyer was. Not a masterpiece, but I’d watch it again.
